Interesting article on Amazon's Web Services (cloud computing)
Posted Tue Apr 22 00:25:31 -0700 2008AWS has been the recipient of much hype over the last couple months, but if you are still not familiar with it, or want an insider's look into its positioning, read this new Wired article:

Thank you for posting – very interesting article. Amazon certainly executes with panache. This kind of reminds me of the SETI project, which uses donated processing power http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/ (hardware as a service).
I am sure this will be a boon to small companies and start-ups. It would be interesting to see what kind of popularity this service will have with large, established businesses. It may be that large companies will be less willing to be in a shared environment. Of course that may not be the target market Amazon would choose to go after...:-)

Surprisingly, 'Who Are The Biggest Users of Amazon Web Services? It’s Not Startups.'
Wow! I would not have expected that :-) Perhaps this line of thinking has to do with my own perceptions and the lack of knowledge about the architecture offerings...Would be interesting to see if large companies farm out what would be considered sensitive data or do they mask the identifiable personal (or supplier) information. What do you think?
